Wiltshire Rifle Volunteer Corps

Wiltshire Rifle Volunteer Corps Blue Cloth Helmet

This is a Victorian helmet to an officer in the Wiltshire Rifle Volunteer Corps. The reason I purchased this helmet is because of its scalloped chin chain. I had seen many other helmets with this feature and on the search for an example with blackened metal as well this one was perfect. It also has an unusual purple liner and the leather piece (I would call it a label, but it is blank) inside the helmet has an interesting floral shape.

    Date Range

    1881-1902
