CIVIL SERVICE RIFLE VOLUNTEER CORPS

Civil Service Rifle Volunteer Corps Grey Cloth Helmet

This is a Victorian grey cloth helmet made by Hobson & Sons belonging to an officer in the Civil Service Rifle Volunteer Corps. The helmet is named to Captain C.T. Hillier who I am currently researching. It has the unusual feature of having metal trim around its rear peak and also has a dark blue piece of cloth forming the background for the Maltese cross plate.

Unique features include khaki grey cloth, a rear metal trim, and a cloth backing to the badge.

    Date Range

    1887-1902
